I'm already starting the design process with a couple of my Spring 2015 clients in Northern California, and I wanted to quickly share with you what that looks like. The experience is a bit different for my long distant clients who can't pop in to the studio or look outside their window to watch me weaving, so I love trying to make the entire process still vivid and fun.
Since each of the larger Thickets is usually custom, we consider not only your personal style choices but also how and where your Thicket will fit into your outdoor space. We usually begin with a quick phone chat about your overall vision, how you imagine interacting with your Thicket, where's the best spot on your property for you all to enjoy the Thicket, and then it's on to the final design. I then whip up some hand renderings of what we've agreed upon and mail them to you. Beyond getting your final "okay!" on the design, it's also my hope these sketches are a treat to tide you over while you patiently wait for your Thicket to ship to you. From then on, I stay in touch throughout the entire process.
I'll post more later on what I call the "maker-to-home" experience of having me come to you to weave your Thicket on site. Of course, Minnesota based clients always get this experience, but I also travel across the US to do on-site Thicket weavings. Stay tuned for more on that!
